Associate Project Manager Level 4

Course Overview

3aaa Apprenticeships have worked with employers including Rolls Royce, Royal Mail and Westminster City Council to create a unique Associate Project Manager programme to assist your employees in developing the skills required to run successful projects.

Throughout the 15 month programme, topics that will be covered include the principles of project management, governance and stakeholder management, leadership and communications and risk and issue management. By working with diverse employers, we’ve developed this programme to help your business grow in terms of being able to define projects and deliver them across diverse industry sectors within different contexts, ensuring the completion and success of projects.

Modules

Module One

Project Management and The Operating Environment

By taking part in this module, learners will deepen their understanding of different contexts in which projects can be delivered, including health, safety, and environment management and use of PESTLE and SWOT analysis. Learners will also be able to differentiate between project, programme and portfolio management.

Module Two

Project Life Cycle & Management Structure

Learners will be able to define a project life cycle and its phases whilst outlining processes for sharing knowledge and lessons learned throughout projects and reviewing processes. Learners will also refine their knowledge of the different types of organisational structures, the roles and responsibilities within a project setting and the functions and benefits of project office facility.

Module Three

Project Management Planning

Through this module, learners will understand the use of a business case and its importance during the project life-cycle as well as stakeholder management. They’ll also learn the importance of scheduling and estimating for project activities including how they can be quality assessed.

Module Four

Project Scope Management

Learners will be able to define a scope in terms of outputs, outcomes and benefits. They will also be able to identify the stages of change control and its relationship to configuration management.

Module Five

Scheduling and Resource Management

Learners will learn the processes for creating and maintaining a project schedule. They will also learn the fundamentals of allocating resources to a schedule and how to manage a budget.

Module Six

Risk Management and Issue Management

This module highlights the stages of risk management processes and the responses to risk, as well as the differences between risks and issues.

Module Seven

Project Quality Management

For this module, learners will be able to define quality management, quality planning, quality assurance and continual improvements. They will also be able to identify benefits of a quality management process.

Module Eight

The Principles of Leadership, Teamwork & Communication for success in a project

Here, learners will be able to describe the key contents of a project communication plan. They will also be able to explain the benefits of effective communication.

Module Nine

Understand Project Procurement

In this module, learners will learn about the procurement strategy, its purpose, content and importance. They will also understand contractual relationships and their differences.

Module Ten

Understand Governance of Project Management and the Use of Structured Methodologies

This module will enable learners to describe the principles of governance of project management and explain the advantages of using standard project methodologies.

Learning & Assessment

The programme is designed to last on average 15 months. The learning coach will guide participants through the programme enabling them to show the skills, knowledge and behaviours to increase efficiency and productivity. Our learning coach will also support participants to develop a portfolio to showcase their best work to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that they have gained.

This programme consists of 10 modules, each of which have a days Workshop training included, which have been designed with industry experts to ensure project managers complete this programme with the skills and knowledge to take their business forward.

Up-skilling your existing project managers with the essential project management skills will ensure your business is in the best possible position to react to change, remain competitive and manage growth. Depending on the age of your participants, business will have to contribute 10% of the cost of this training programme. National Insurance Contribution rebate for Apprentices

Did you know that you could claim back the National Insurance Contributions for your Apprentices depending on their age. If your business has hired an Apprentice since 6th April 2016, who is aged under 25 and is enrolled on an Apprenticeship, you can claim back your National Insurance contributions for them. Depending on the salary of your Apprentice, this could amount to a significant saving. By changing your employer contribution category for Apprentices who meet these criteria will save your business money.
