Cyber Security Technologist Level 4

Course Overview

Our Level 4 Cyber Security: Technologist Apprenticeship gives apprentices the chance to learn within a working environment and develop the personal skills required to work in a Cyber Security role. Following the programme, Apprentices will cover digital security and, more specifically, knowledge and understanding on the technologist route.

Over the course of the Level 4 Apprenticeship, participants will cover topics such as cyber security, network and digital communications theory, security case development and design good practice, security technology building blocks and employment of cryptology.

Modules

Module One

Cyber Security Introduction

Within this module, participants will learn essential knowledge foundations for the majority of cyber security roles, including basic security theory, security concepts, cyber defence and keeping up with future trends.

Module Two

Networking and Digital Communications Theory

Participants will begin to look at what is meant by data and protocol, how they relate and the main routing protocols. Also looking at the main factors that affect network performance and propose improvements upon these.

Module Three

Security Case Development and Design Good Practice

Building on what good practice in design is and how it may contribute to security, participants will describe common security architectures that incorporate security hardware and software components.

Module Four

Security Technology Building Blocks

Focusing on security technology, participants will look at different types of security hardware and software which are used to protect systems and how these can be used to deliver risk mitigation or implement a security case.

Module Five

Employment of Cryptology

Participants will cover the main cryptographic techniques, how they’re applied and their limitations. Also looking at key management, the roles and cryptographic techniques, the practical issues and relevant legal issues.

Learning & Assessment

Over the course of the 15 month Apprenticeship, learners will receive close training from their 3aaa trainer in one of our 38 training academies.

During the academy sessions, Apprentices will be covering a range of modules that will be tailored towards their roles and responsibilities, learning about the concepts behind their tasks within the workplace and being able to develop themselves with key industry experience.
