Software Development Technician Level 3

Course Overview

Our Level 3 Software Development Technician programme is designed to equip employees with the knowledge and skills to develop as a Software Technician within any business, supporting productivity through the use of software. They will learn a range of skills from developing an App to working as part of a larger software development team, allowing them to meet the needs of any business. This programme will enable growth and introduce brand new skills to your workforce.

During the 12-15 month programme, Software Development Technician Apprentices will cover topics allowing them to support a business’s needs by identifying and understanding the end user of your software and assisting development to ensure that software is operating effectively and supporting business decisions.

Modules

Module One

Software Development Methodologies

This certificate is the first module of the two knowledge modules required for the Level 3 Software Development Technician programme. It covers the range of concepts, approaches and techniques that are applicable to software development context & methodologies, for which participants are required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.

Module Two

Programming

This certificate is the second module of the two knowledge modules required for the Level 3 Software Development Technician programme. It covers the range of concepts, approaches and techniques that are applicable to software development, for which participants are required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.

Learning & Assessment

This programme lasts for 12-15 months, with Software Development Technician Apprentices receiving regular training sessions during the initial stages of the programme. The training coach will work with Apprentices and their employers to establish the timetable for these sessions.

Are you eligible?

To be accepted into the 3aaa Apprenticeships’ applicant pool, you must hold 5 GCSEs (graded A* to C or 9 to 5) or equivalent.

This must include English and Maths and you must demonstrate a proven passion for technology.

Hiring a Software Development Technician Apprentice will support your business’s software needs, providing internal and external assistance.

We can work with you to source a suitable applicant for your business or you can up-skill your existing employees. If the employee is under 19 and your business has less than 50 employees, there will be no cost for the training. If they are over 19 and/or your business has over 50 employees then you will contribute 10% towards the cost of the training.
