Over the last few weeks, the whole of the 3aaa team have been raising money and buying gifts for underprivileged young people in the Sheffield area. In total, we have raised over £270.00 to give to the charity in cash as well as 5 big sacks full of toys, chocolates and other gifts.

Caroline Walton, Employer Engagement Executive from the Sheffield Academy initially raised awareness of this charity drive and asked the whole of 3aaa to come together to help the Sheffield team support Cash for Kids and help make a positive contribution to young people’s lives this Christmas. The 3aaa academies across the country also wore Christmas jumpers and hats on Friday 12^th December to help raise awareness for the charity.

Each Cash for Kids charity was established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters. They use the power of local radio brands to deliver initiatives for sick and underprivileged children in our communities, to benefit local children and give disadvantaged young people a better and brighter future.

Caroline Walton said “We are absolutely delighted that we have managed to contribute to this amazing cause. Everybody deserves a little bit of cheer at Christmas and we hope that have we have been able to give that cheer to some disadvantaged young people this year. The whole of 3aaa clubbed together and donated some amazing gifts whilst also raising awareness of Cash for Kids”.

On Friday 5^th December, local MP Richard Harrington visited the 3aaa Watford Academy to show his ongoing support and commended the work that we do in the local community to offer life changing opportunities to young people.

During his visit, Richard was shown around the Academy and spoke with both Apprentices and members of staff to discuss the impact that 3aaa has on their lives and ways in which he can support the Academy in the future.

“I’m not surprised at all that 3aaa have been awarded a Grade 1 – Outstanding by Ofsted; it is an outstanding service they are providing after all. Apprenticeships are a great option for people to consider, and over 3000 apprentices have been hired in Watford since 2010 with the help of companies like 3aaa. The Government have this week announced that businesses employing apprentices aged under 25 will also now receive a tax break, so if you are considering taking someone on, consider an apprentice” said Richard Harrington MP.

Julie Watts, 3aaa Watford Academy Manager said “It is fantastic that Watford are making an impact in our local community and bringing awareness to our Apprenticeship service in the area. By working closely with Richard Harrington and with his support in accessing schools and local service that work with young people, we hope to make a significant difference within the Watford area and put 3aaa on the Map”.

On Tuesday 9th December it was announced that the number of Apprentices in England has now hit 2 million since 2010, highlighting the continued success of Apprenticeships in giving young people the skills and life changing opportunities that they need to help transform businesses of all sizes and become pivotal to the futures of these businesses.

We are currently supporting the national #GetinGoFar campaign which is part of the current government’s commitment to inspire young people to consider an Apprenticeship and benefit from the life changing opportunity to ‘earn while they learn’. By ‘getting in’ with an employer, they will be able to ‘go far’ in their chosen career and learn the skills to help make a real difference to their employer’s business.

This exciting news coincides with the fact that we currently have the highest number of Apprentices on our programmes that we have ever had across the company as we continue to grow and open 3aaa Academies in more and more locations across the country.

On Friday, Neil Godrich won the National ECB award for best One Day Groundsman for his great work on the 3aaa County Ground in 2014.

We are currently enjoying an excellent partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket Club and are delighted that Neil has been commended for his work this year, an achievement which has come shortly after our very own Grade 1 – Outstanding from Ofsted.

Our partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket Club has seen passionate young people start their Apprenticeship journey with 3aaa and the cricket club as we aim to use this well-developed partnership and use the ‘Power of Sport’ to provide the Apprentices with inspirational role models in the early stages of their careers.

As the first season of our partnership has drawn to an end, the team at 3aaa would like to congratulate Neil and his team on the award and look forward to a successful second season together next year.
