Like many young people today, Lois Brown found herself struggling with confidence and immaturity as she embarked on a vital stage of her journey.

The young female Apprentice from the West Midlands made the decision to join the Accountancy Apprenticeship at the 3aaa Academy in Birmingham after finding it hard to overcome these important issues in her work life.

Shortly after joining the Apprenticeship, Lois worked closely with the 3aaa team at the Birmingham Academy to help her improve her confidence and interview skills and assist her in preparing for her real life industry experience. Carly Pollard, Recruitment Executive (Learner Intake) at 3aaa Birmingham Academy said “Lois has demonstrated proactivity and initiative throughout the programme and the development in her confidence and interview skills has been immense.”

With support every step of the way from the 3aaa team, Lois overcame her lack of confidence and secured herself the job of her dreams with the Birmingham based Accountancy firm, Ruhaan and Co.

Lois said “When I started at 3aaa I was fresh out of school with all the worries of the world on my shoulders but all that was short lived because the warm welcome I received both from staff and students made things so much better. I started to grow as a person and my confidence developed virtually overnight thanks to the excellent tutoring I received from the tutors and from the staff. Now I’ve become an independent young woman with more qualifications and a great job.”

Lois also puts some of her success down to the ‘3aaa Women’s Day’ at Birmingham on Thursday 15th May 2014  which was specifically aimed at celebrating the contributions of women in the Technology, Business, Social Media and Accountancy sectors, including some of our own apprentices that have made their dreams come true through the Apprenticeship route.

“I was delighted to receive a prize on Women’s Day and be recognised for my hard work.  I found the day inspiring and it has made me even more determined to become an accountant!  It is definitely not a career just for men.” Said Lois.
